![]() ![]() What Do You Need to Run a Minecraft Server?Ī basic, un-modded Minecraft server can be run on any modern PC, and probably even the old computer that has been sitting in your closet diligently collecting dust. Running your own server lets you and your friends can play together with your own set of rules, and it's really easy to do. What's better than single player? Multiplayer, of course! You can join one of hundreds of servers at to get started, or search around for more exclusive ones, but ultimately you're bound by their rules and discretion. There are smaller servers that have communities raging from 30-100 players daily. We've already shown you How To Get Started with Minecraft, a Game Geeks Love. Besides from big servers such as Hypixel and Minemenclub (the current top practice server for 1.7-1.8 pvp). ![]() In regards to the current number of players, there is still many servers open. If Mojang's objective was to make the game more focused on the survival aspect. Thus, leading to the decline of new players entering multiplayer servers. Racking up high playtime on servers that their favorite content creator is playing on. It's not like back then where many players would play Minecraft as their main game. ![]() New players are mostly coming in to play singleplayer or smps (until they get bored). Today's minecraft multiplayer content creation mostly focused on survival. It's mainly due to players not liking the new combat in the gamemodes and opportunities for developers being limited as they have to stay in the preferred version their playerbase like to play (versions 1.7-1.8). These servers were not able to integrate their gamemodes into the new combat. I was part of the HCF, practice, and uhc community. I know this is a controversial thing to say, but I've always stand by the implementation of 1.9 combat as being one of the biggest blunders for the multiplayer community. I don't really play singleplayer or survival (such as towny, smps) servers. I mainly play pvp gamemodes offered by multiplayer servers. I've been playing Minecraft continuously for almost a decade now. It seems like they failed finally but i don't feel vindicated, just sad and empty. I remember when I had a big server a very long time ago, i used to fume and rage every single time mojang made a bad move that was common sense bad for multiplayer, what made me even more mad was that it seems like they could never fail, no matter what they did and how poorly their choices were, the game was always booming. Or did the gameplay just get boring and stale? Seems like twitch streamers do no community engagement and only do single player minecraft or creator only servers. Did they kill multiplayer by trying to make everyone pay 30 bucks for pocket edition to play?ĭid mainsteam games compete with minecraft gamemodes and pushed minecraft multiplayer out? Hunger games, survival games, are battle royal, fortenite pubg, tarkov. It seem's like you can't even launch the game because it's asking you to buy bedrock. What actually happened? I saw an article saying java fused with bedrock because bedrock had more players, but right now it looks like java has more players? did java always have more players? I remember when bedrock came out, it was pocket edition that only a few servers chose to get into. it says there are 3 million players online, but i think these are sanctioned single player game copies being played. But now even mineplex has only 100 players. 'oh everyone went to bedrock', 'look for a different server'. Whenever you google the topic, you come across these discussion where someone asks this question, and someone else gives a rationalization. I've been feeling like the multiplayer community is dying.
